Poem for a Sunny Day

Heliocentric Contemplation

Relentless sunshine

Leave me alone

Your incessant demands for action

activity

joyous leaping.

Can't you see?

My mood requires rain.

Damp, dreary, grey

cool droplets

You shroud me in guilt

How dare I hover indoors?

Fuck you Mr. Sunshine

you and your heliolithic minions

Like an overly cheery morning person

Insistent.

Annoying.

Take me to Seattle or Vancouver

Dress me in galoshes and hand me an umbrella

Today, anyway.
